FPInnovations brings together FERIC, Forintek, Paprican, and the Canadian Wood Fibre Centre of Natural Resources Canada to create the world’s largest private, not-for-profit forest research institute. With over 600 employees spread across Canada, FPInnovations unites the individual strengths of each of these internationally recognized forest research and development institutes into a single, greater force.
The Pulp and Paper group operates research laboratories in Pointe-Claire, QC, and Vancouver, BC and a technology transfer centre at Prince George, BC. Approximately 340 scientists, engineers, and support staff work at these locations.
After 12 years as part of the federal Network of Centres of Excellence (NCE) program, the Mechanical Wood-Pulps Network (MWPN) has evolved into the Canadian Pulp and Paper Network for Innovation in Education and Research (PAPIER). PAPIER advances the culture of collaboration between university and industry established through years of significant financial and intellectual investment over the life of the MWPN.
