The Fibre Quality Analyzer (FQA) Lab features an FQA from Op Test Equipment Inc. and a collection of microscopes for detailed analysis of individual pulp fibres. The FQA is a complex yet user friendly device that can measure a variety of pulp qualities like fibre length, percent of fines in a pulp slurry, curl index, kink index, fibre width, coarseness and more. The FQA is able to measure both softwood pulps and hardwood pulps. It is calibrated to meet TAPPI Test Method T 271.
