All are invited to the APSC Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest being held on Tuesday, October 29th at Noon in Kaiser 2020 as part of the continuing efforts to support the United Way.

All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate, judge or spectate.

A brief outline of the contest’s rules follows:
• Pumpkins supplied – get ready to gut!
• Only one pumpkin per team allowed
• BYOCU – Bring your own carving utensils
• This is a free-hand competition, that means no stencils

For more detailed information and to register your team, visit apsc.ubc.ca/pumpkin. Please register by Friday, October 25th. A donation of $20 per team, destined to United Way, is suggested.
Not carving? Spectators and judges are welcome too! With a $2 donation to United Way, you’ll receive a token that will symbolize one vote. The carved pumpkin that collects the most tokens will be declared the winner. Come show your support for your department’s entry. Will this year mark the end of ECE’s current reign, or will they defend their title?

Be sure to bring some “change for change” and enjoy the BAKE SALE, enerously donated by Applied Science’s friends and members. If you are interested in donating goods for the bake sale, please contact Anna Jamroz at anna.jamroz@ubc.ca

All proceeds will go to UBC’s United Way campaign, which partners with more than 150 organizations and 450 programs to research, advocate for and evaluate the social issues children and seniors face.
UBC has partnered with United Way for over 30 years, holding a workplace campaign since 1976. United Way’s mission statement, “strengthen our community’s capacity to address social issues,” aligns with UBC’s Place and Promise pillar of Community Engagement.
